When you think about Adam Sandler movies, The Wedding Singer likely comes to mind at the top of your list. This movie is knock-down funny. With the pairing of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, the chemistry is hot and heavy, both in comedy and in romance. Someone knew what they were doing with casting!
Cast
The cast of The Wedding Singer are all hilarious on their own account. When they are put together, they form an incredible group of comedians that only play off of one another. Adam Sandler plays the lead male role and does it with comedy and talent, as he does all of his roles. Drew Barrymore is the sweet female lead role and is the perfect counterpart for Sandler in the film. Her sincerity to the role is adorable and she is very funny as well. Christine Taylor, Allen Covert, Matthew Glave, and Ellen Albertini Dow were all hilarious supporting actors and actresses as well.
Script
The script, written by Tim Herlihy is perfect for this story and for these actors and actresses. With Sandler’s character starting out being left at the alter, while being a wedding singer, you know the movie will be hilarious from the start. Then comes Barrymore, who happens to be engaged to another guy. Sandler gets talked into helping Barrymore plan her wedding and the romance begins. The movie leaves you feeling satisfied and happy. The characters end up where the audience wants them to be, which is always a nice thing.
