    Commentary
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me is the second of three Austin Powers films, starring Mike Myers as Austin Powers, a British spy from the '60s who froze himself to reappear in the '90s. Like the other Austin Powers films, this one is hilarious - in fact I think it is the funniest of the three. Myers also plays the roles of Dr. Evil and Fat Bastard.

    Plot Summary
With the aid of his assistant Fat Bastard and his clone Mini-Me, Dr. Evil travels back in time to 1969 to steal Austin Powers' mojo. Dr. Evil also kills his wife Vanessa Kensington from the first movie and builds a fembot with her appearance in an attempt to destroy Powers. His sinister plot in this movie is to zap Washington DC with a laser based on the moon. He also builds and launches a long space ship which two spherical fuel tanks, which various people from around the world comment on what it looks like!

    Cultural Influences
Much of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me was influenced by various aspects of popular culture. Here are some examples:

    • The title is a takeoff on the James Bond film and Ian Fleming novel The Spy Who Loved Me.
    • Dr. Evil calls one of his creations "The Alan Parson's Project". This is also the name of a rock band which was popular in the '70s and '80s.
    • The character Mini-Me is inspired by Marlon Brando's miniature sidekick in The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996).
    • Dr. Evil's moon base consists of Moon Unit Alpha and Moon Unit Zappa, the latter being the name of Frank Zappa's daughter.
