    Commentary
Beauty and the Beast is an incredible Disney animated movie. It contains some of the best film animation I've ever seen in my life, including a spectacular dance scene which looks fully three-dimensional and almost real. I'm not usually a big fan of cartoons, but Beauty and the Beast is exceptional. The story is also quite moving and entertaining.

    Plot Summary

    • Introduction: Beauty and the Beast is the story of a handsome prince who gets turned into a hideous beast at the hands of an enchatress due to his selfishness. She also casts a dark spell on his castle, which transforms the servents into household objects. In order to break the spell, the beast must fall in love with a woman and have her love him back before the last pedal falls from a rose which the enchantress had given him.
    • Belle: Belle is a beautiful young girl from Provence, a region of France. She lives with her eccentric father Maurice, who works as an inventor. Gaston, a handsome but highly conceeded young man, wants to marry her, but she refuses.
    • Belle Meets the Beast: One day, Maurice tries to go to a fair to test one of his inventions, but he falls off his horse in the forest and gets chased by wolves into the beast's castle, where the beast takes him as prisoner. Belle goes to the castle to save him and begs for the beast to take her in her father's place. The beast grants her this request, realizing that perhaps she can break the spell. Her fear of the beast gradually wears off as he becomes kinder to her, but she still wishes to see her father. She looks into the beast's magic mirror and finds Maurice sick and lost in the woods, whence the beast agrees to release her to help her find him. Belle finds Maurice and returns him safely to the village.
    • Breaking of the Spell : Meawhile Gaston, still determined to win back Belle, decides to organize a mob to kill the beast. The mob arrives at the castle, where most of them are chased away by the household objects, but Gaston manages to find the beast and stab him. Very upsettedly, Belle tells the beast she loves him just as the last petal falls from the rose. This causes the spell to break, whence the beast becomes transformed back into the prince, the castle becomes bright, and the servents turn back into humans.
