    Commentary
Pretty Woman is a delightful romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts as an LA prostitute and Richard Gere as rich, ruthless businessman who picks her up and ends up falling in love with her. Julia Robers' acting is superb in this movie.

    Plot Summary
Lewis Enterprises CEO Edward Lewis (Gere) leaves a party after getting into a fight with his girlfriend. He gets lost along the way, so he asks directions to his hotel from street hooker Vivian Ward (Roberts) for $20. Once at the hotel, Edward first offers her $300 to spend the night with him, to which she agrees. The next moring he gets a call from his lawyer Phil who tells him he should go with a date to his next meeting, whence he asks Vivian to spend the week with him for $3000, to which she once again agrees. During their week together, they both grow. Lewis' lawyer expects him to take over a rival company, but instead Lewis decides to help the CEO run his company. Lewis also ends up falling in love with Vivian. The movie ends with him bringing her a bouquet of roses and kissing her, whence she agrees to move with him back to New York.

    Music
The music from Pretty Woman became very successful. Largely as a result of the movie, the song "Oh, Pretty Woman!" by Roy Orbison became one of the most recognized oldies of all time. Other songs featured in the movie include

    • "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette
    • "The King of Wishful Thinking" by Go West
    • "Show Me Your Soul" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers
    • "Wild Women Do" by Natalie Cole
